The Kerala Law Academy Law College (KLA) in association with the Centre for Advanced
Legal Studies and Research (CALSAR) and IQAC KLA is organizing One Day International Seminar on “Evolving Landscape of Corporate Law” on November 30th, 2024, at the Kerala Law Academy Campus, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
ABOUT THE INSTITUTION:
Located in the ‘Heart of Trivandrum’, the Kerala Law Academy Law College, established in 1966 is an esteemed institution, that has been imparting legal wisdom to scores of students over the years and has grown to be a pioneer in research, legal education, consultancy, and promoting legal reforms. KLA is known for its various competitions and programmes such as its Moot Court Competition, Client Counselling Competition etc.
The liberal ambience of the research wing and its sister institute for Research program in Law (PhD), “Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research” (CALSAR), is conducive to igniting nascent thoughts and ideals. The one-day International Seminar will be a collaboration of CALSAR and IQAC, KLA Law College.
ABOUT THE THEME:
With the changing dynamics in the corporate world, especially in the Indian context, with the advancement of technology, evolving societal expectations, globalization, etc. companies have to address various laws that address data protection, environmental sustainability, and workforce diversity. This complexity compels organizations to adopt proactive compliance strategies and to
integrate legal considerations into their business models. In this context, corporate law is evolving to reflect these new realities. Traditional principles are being reassessed to accommodate the rapid pace of change, particularly regarding digital innovation and global market dynamics. For instance, the rise of remote work and gig economies has led to calls for updated regulations that better protect workers while fostering entrepreneurial growth. Furthermore, corporate law is increasingly focused on social responsibility, encouraging companies to balance profit motives with stakeholder interests. As a result, legal professionals adapt their approaches, integrating sustainability and ethical considerations into their practices, ensuring that businesses comply with the law and contribute positively to society.
This international seminar provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the most recent trends and concerns as well as challenges encountered and solutions under the topic of discussion.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
With various technical and special sessions to be held throughout the day chaired by eminent personalities, the seminar will commence at 8 AM and will be inaugurated at 10 AM by Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash (Vice Chancellor, National Law Institute University, Bhopal); Prof. (Dr.) Amirthalingam S. (Professor of Law), Tamil Nadu National Law University; and Prof. V.K. Unni, (Professor, IIM Calcutta).
The seminar will conclude with a valedictory function graced by the presence of Dr. Hafiz Aziz ur Rehman, (Director of the, School of Law, Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan), and Adv. CS Bijoy P. Pulipra, (Advocate and Managing Partner
