Helping Hands for Vishnu’s Dreams

Introduction

D. A. Vishnu is a law aspirant who has completed his higher secondary education at Government Tribal Vocational Higher Secondary School Puthoor with 70% mark. Inspite of his financial disadvantages he is determined to pursue his dream of becoming an advocate. Since he couldn’t find fund for buying books or joining coaching centers he is learning it by himself with the aid of YouTube . In Mele Anavai region, his homeland, there is no mobile range connectivity. So twice a week he travels 30 Kms to reach his relative’s home at Kurukathikkall where he takes down notes from YouTube videos.

Students from Mele Anavai region find it hard to pursue higher education due to lack of accessibility of infrastructure and internet facilities. Most of them drop their studies after completing higher secondary education. Students find it hard to pursue coaching facilities for PSC Exam due to inaccessibility of internet and mobile connection facilities. Even after completing their degree most of them find it hard to get a job and return to agricultural and allied activities for livelihood. Most children only recieve primary education as it is free of cost.

Most of the houses at Attapadi region does not have toilet facilities. Since houses does not have this facility they have requested for building toilets at Mele Annavai region since long ago. Vishnu said that the reason behind the desire to pursue LL. B is because basic human rights of these people are being denied to them and most of them are unaware of their rights. Mr. Dhwararaj (father) who is a daily wage forest watch guard and Mrs. Bindu (mother) who is a homemaker constantly supports his dreams and aspirations.
