9th National ADR Competition by Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram – 8th & 14th December 2023

The prestigious Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram is hosting the 9th National Alternative Dispute Resolution Competition for KELSA Trophy in association with V.R. Krishna Iyer ADR Chair on 8th and 14th December 2023. The competition will be held in Hybrid Mode.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS

Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram also known as GLC Trivandrum is one of the institutions imparting graduate and post graduate legal education. Affiliated to the University of Kerala, it is the second law college in Kerala and one of the oldest law colleges in India. Notable alumni includes judges of Supreme Court such as Justice Fathima Beevi, Justice K.K Mathew, judges of high courts such as Justice B. Kemal Pasha, Justice K. Babu, various politicians and academicians.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Alternative Dispute Resolution refers to out of court settlements where parties resolve their dispute with the help of a neutral third party.

In this competition, a hypothetical problem with legal subject matter and dispute will be provided to the participating teams. The teams have to develop it into a role play format through imagination and individual skills. The problems for the event are provided in the attachment below.

Problem No. 1 is for the preliminary round, Problem No. 2 for the Semi Finals and Problem No. 3 for the Finals.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Competition is open to all Law Colleges and Faculties/Departments of Law recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Participation is limited ONLY to the L.L.B students in both three-year and five-year schemes.
  • A College/Department can send ONLY ONE team to the competition.

TEAM CONSTITUTION

A team shall have 3 members only. They shall perform the following roles-

  • Claimant
  • Respondent
  • Rapporteur

  • For PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION, send the scanned copy of the duly filled registration proforma (attached below) to adrglctvpm@gmail.com latest by 1st December 2023.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Teams shall be selected on FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis.
  • Maximum number of teams selected shall be limited to 20.
  • Selected teams shall be intimated through email on 2nd December 2023
  • Selected teams should remit the REGISTRATION FEES of Rs 1500/- on or before 11:59 PM, 5th December 2023 and send transaction details to adrglctvpm@gmail.com.
