Two thousand books collected by DLSA Thiruvananthapuram for care home inmates

District Legal Services Authority Thiruvananthapuram has successfully developed the reading habit for the residents of Poojappura Boys’ Children’s Home, Special Homes, Women’s and Children’s Homes located at Poojappura, Nettayam, Tirumala and Venjaramoodu.

Two thousand and eighty books were collected for children.The Legal Services Authority prepared for such an initiative on the instructions of the Kerala State Legal Services Authority. Renowned author and MP Shri.Dr. Shashi Tharoor, renowned magician Shri.Gopinath Muthukadu, Writer Shri.Babu Kuzhimattom, Shri.Pramod Raman and many other famous poets signed the books in solidarity with the challenge. District judges and other judicial officers and the general public also donated books.Books were also donated by the Law and Justice Research Foundation, the Law Academy Legal Aid Clinic, and the Lawyers’ Cultural and Welfare Forum.In addition to that many other writers and poets autographed and handed over the books penned by them.

Shri.P.V Balakrishnan, The District legal services authority Chairman and District Judge handed over the books to the Children at Thiruvanathapuram Children’s Home.District Legal Services Authority Secretary and Sub-Judge Shri.K Vidyadharan, District Women and Children Officer Sabina Begum, Child Protection Officer Chitralekha and Poojappura Children’s Home Superintendent Smt. AV. Sheeja were also present.
