The Office of Justice K.V. Viswanathan is offering a prestigious one-month, in-person judicial internship, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability. This full-time internship provides an immersive learning experience within the Supreme Court of India.
Interns will begin with an orientation session covering essential procedures, tools, and policies. They will also receive necessary templates and protocols to prepare for their roles effectively.
ABOUT JUSTICE VISWANATHAN:
He was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of India on May 19, 2023. Notably, he was the tenth member of the bar to be directly appointed to the Supreme Court.
He is slated to become the Chief Justice of India from August 12, 2030, to May 25, 2031. Upon assuming this role, he will be the fourth individual to be directly elevated from the bar to the position of Chief Justice.
MODE: On-Site/Physical in Delhi
APPLICATION PERIOD:
For one month between September 2024 – May 2025 (Applications accepted on a rolling basis).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns will be responsible for preparing briefs that summarize case facts, legal arguments, and relevant case law. They will conduct detailed legal research, draft memos and opinions, and attend court proceedings and meetings to take comprehensive minutes.
Professional Standards: Interns must adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism, ensuring that all information is handled with discretion and their conduct reflects the office’s commitment to integrity and excellence.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The internship is open to undergraduate law students who are in their 2nd year or above in a 3-year program or 3rd year or above in a 5-year program, as well as postgraduate law students.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so please submit your application ideally 5 weeks before the intended start date of the internship. Interviews will be conducted either telephonically or virtually, and confirmations will be communicated 2-4 weeks prior to the internship start date. All applicants will be informed of their internship status.
