Alappuzha to be a district of complete social justice says Minister Dr. R. Bindu

Alappuzha district will be transformed into a district that ensures complete social justice, said R Bindu, Minister of Social Justice and Higher Education.The minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the building for the district office of the social justice department at the civil station premises.1crore 62 lakh rupees have been sanctioned for the construction of three-storey building consisting of District Social Justice Office, District Probation Office, Conference hall and canteen.

The district has till now effectively utilized 99% of the plan funds of the social justice department.The ‘Vioraksha’ scheme to ensure food, transport to the hospital, medicine and accommodation for the elderly in times of crisis has benefited 40 elderly people in the district in the last one year.Alappuzha Social Justice Office has provided the most assistance through the scheme of providing financial assistance to the daughters of differently abled persons. The minister said that fifty girls have been helped out through this scheme.

The goal of the government is comprehensive development by ensuring social justice. The government is there to provide support and shade to the elderly, differently-abled, transgenders, and those who are isolated from society because of committing crimes.Plans are being prepared for the differently abled under the slogan ‘barrier-free’ Kerala. The department is implementing many projects for the rehabilitation and welfare of the transgender community, including the ‘Rainbow’ project – said the minister.

The individuals and organizations who worked for the social justice department to put up a stall at the ‘Ente Keralam’ exhibition and marketing fair held in connection with the second anniversary of the government were honored on the occasion. The minister also released a documentary and magazine about the activities carried out by the Social Justice Department in the district during the year 2022-23.

Rajeswari, District Collector Haritha V Kumar, District Panchayat Welfare Standing Committee Chairman T.S. Taha, Municipal Councillor Simi Shafi Khan, District Social Justice Officer A.O. Abeen, Joint Director of Social Justice Department K.V. Subhash Kumar, Joint Director of Local self Government Department S. Sreekumar, P.W.D Executive Engineer I Ramlabeevi, Women & Child Development Officer L. Sheeba, District Probation Officer G. Santhosh and other officials also attended the event.
