Call for Applications: 2nd Edition of Criminology & Forensic Sciences Course

The LJRF Academy, an initiative of the Law and Justice Research Foundation, invites applications for the 2nd Edition of the Criminology & Forensic Sciences Course starting in June 2025. This 13-week online course is designed for law students, legal professionals, and individuals interested in understanding crime, criminal behavior, forensic science, and the criminal justice system.

ABOUT THE COURSE:

Criminology is the study of criminal behavior, its causes, and its impact on victims and society. This course offers an in-depth exploration of crime from a sociological perspective, covering the sources of crime, societal reactions, criminal investigations, forensic methodologies, and the evolution of punishment. Participants will gain valuable
insights into:

  • Prison-meaning, types of prison
  • Prison rules, prison reforms
  • Court- structure and functions

Week 8:

  • Basic principles Forensic Science
  • Crime scene search methods

Week 9:

  • Evidences- types
  • Collection and preservation of evidence

Week 10:

  • Questioned documents
  • Tool marks, explosives

  • Various strategies of crime prevention
  • Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPED)
  • Routine Activity Theory (RAT)
  • Community policing

Week 12:

  • Concept of Penology

  • Victims- meaning, types of victims, rights of victims
