The Directorate of Enforcement has called for the applications for Legal Consultants across various offices in India on short term basis.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION:

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is an investigative agency, a multidisciplinary organization under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, mandated with the investigation of economic offences and violations of foreign exchange laws such as FEMA and PMLA etc. Starting as an ‘Enforcement Unit’ under the Department of Economic Affairs in 1956, the unit had a massive growth into the Directorate of Enforcement with the implementation of FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act), PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) and FEOA (Fugitive Economic Offenders Act) Acts.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Name of the Position: Legal Consultant

Number of Vacancies: 75 Posts across various offices of the Directorate of Enforcement in India (may vary at time if final selection)

Tenure: Shall be 3 years (to be renewed at the end of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year) and extendable upto 5 years as per performance

Eligibility:

  • LLB Degree from a National Law School or any recognized University or equivalent (LLM holders may be given additional weightage)
  • Minimum 3 years of practice at Bar/Court with any Criminal and Fiscal Law.
  • Age: Not more than 35 years as on the closing date of Advertisement

Income/Salary: Rs.80,000/- (Rupees Eighty Thousand Only) per month with annual increment of 10% based on annual appraisal performance

Duties: To render assistance to Officers of the Directorate; To appear before the Appellate Tribunal for Foreign Exchange, Adjudicating Authority and Appellate Tribunal for PMLA and other Courts as directed; To brief Senior Law Officers, Central Govt. Standing Counsels and Senior Advocates.
