LAWOJ 2022 : Legal aid week celebrations

The Kerala Law Academy Legal Aid Clinic and Services in association with District Legal Service Authority Trivandrum,LJRF,KLA NSS and IQAC KLA is organizing the LAWOJ 2022 from 20th – 26th October 2022.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

Established in 1966 Kerala Law Academy [KLA] is a seat of excellence in legal education, consultancy and research and in pioneering law reforms. The formal inauguration of KLA was done on 21 October 1967 by E M S Namboodiripad, the then Chief Minister of Kerala. The Academy’s prestigious institute, “the Kerala Law Academy Law College” is located in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. ‘KLA Legal Aid Clinic and KLA Legal Services Centre’ is actively working to impart legal awareness to poor and illiterate people and to make students socially relevant and professionally competent legal professionals. It also offers legal and paralegal services by the faculty and the students. KLA was the first organization in the state to take up legal aid on a massive scale.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Kerala Law Academy Legal Aid Clinic and Services in association with District Legal Services Authority, Trivandrum KLA NSS, LJRF and IQAC KLA is organizing the LAWOJ 2022 from 20th -26th October 2022. The inaugurals of LAWOJ 2022 was conducted on 20th October 2022 at the Kerala Law Academy law College Campus.

Sri K Vidyadharan, Sub Judge, Secretary District Legal Service Authority, Trivandrum was the chief guest of the event along with Smt Shiny Mol, District Social Justice Officer Trivandrum. Vidyadharan sir gave the inaugural address and also sir gave a very detailed insight on the provisions regarding the legal aid. Smt. Shiny mol mam gave a beautiful felicitation for the session. The welcome address for the event was given by Prof. Hareendran K, Principal Kerala Law Academy. The Vote of thanks for the event was delivered by GS Gokul, student Convenor, Kerala Law Academy Legal Aid Clinic and Services. Prof. Anil Kumar K sir, Director, Administration, Students and Faculty Welfare Kerala Law Academy, Prof. Anil Kumar G sir, Professor Kerala Law Academy, Adv. Arya Sunil Paul, Faculty Coordinator, KLA Legal Aid Clinic and Service, faculties and students of Kerala Law Academy Law College also attended the function.

The inaugurals of LAWOJ 2022 will be conducted on 20th October 2022. Sri K Vidyadharan, Sub Judge, Secretary District Legal Service Authority, Trivandrum will be the chief guest of the event along with Smt Shiny Mol, District Social Justice Officer Trivandrum. Also Sri Hareendran K, Principal Kerala Law Academy would deliver the welcome speech .

Essay Competition
An intra college essay competition will be conducted on 20th October 2022 at 02.00pm. The event will be conducted by the Kerala Law Academy Legal Aid Clinic And Services in association with Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization Kerala. The topic for the competition will be Education is not for Living But for Life.

Debate Competition
An inter collegiate debate competition will be conducted on 21th October 2022 at 10.30am. The topic for the same will be “Is Brain Drain In Vogue?”

Quiz Competition
An inter Collegiate Competition will be conducted on 22nd October 2022 at 10.30am. The topic for the same will be Current Affairs.

Panel Discussion
A panel Discussion will be conducted in association with LJRF . The topic for the same will be Canines- Friends or Foes. The panelists for the session will be Adv Nagaraj Narayanan, Director Kerala Law Academy, Dr. N Ramesh Kumar, Additional Director (Retd) Animal Husbandary, Govt of Kerala, Sri. Kris Venugopal, Director La Liberta and Smt. Sally Varma, Honarary Animal Welfare Officer, AWBI.

Poster Designing Competition
The poster designing Competition will be held on 24th October 2022 at 12.00pm. The topic for the same will be Addressing Drug Challenges in Health And Humanitarian Crisis.

Awareness Program
An awareness Program will be conducted in association with KLA NSS on 25th October 2022. The topic for the same will be Addressing Drug Challenges In Health And Humanitarian Crisis.

Valedictory Function
The Valedictory function will be conducted on 26th October at 10.30 am. Sri. SH Panchapakesan, State Commissioner for persons with disabilities will be chief guest along with Sri. Ajit Kumar IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order and Traffic, Trivandrum city. Prof G. Anil Kumar, professor Kerala Law Academy will be delivering the welcome speech for the event and Adv Arya Sunil Paul, Faculty Co-Ordinator, KLA Legal Aid Clinic And Services will be delivering the vote of thanks for the event.
