Legal aid week celebrations: LAWOJ 2022

Imparting legal awareness is the initial step towards ensuring effective access to justice. To achieve this objective the Kerala Law Academy Legal Aid Clinic in association with the National Service Scheme successfully conducted One Week Trainer’s Training Program “LAWOJ 2022” (LAW ACADEMY WINGS OF JUSTICE) from October 20th  to 26th 2022. The sole intention in organising this Legal awareness programme was that it would serve as an inducement to the budding lawyers to equip the society by providing legal awareness which was successfully achieved.

THE EVENTS INCLUDED:

  • INTRA COLLEGE ESSAY COMPETITION in association with Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Kerala
  • INTER COLLEGIATE DEBATE COMPETITION
  • INTER COLLEGE QUIZ COMPETITION
  • PANEL DISCUSSION IN ASSOCIATION WITH LJRF
  • POSTER DESIGNING COMPETITION

The Valedictory Session was graced with the presence of Sri. S. H. Panchapakesan [State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities], Sri. Ajit Kumar IPS [Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law & Order & Traffic, Trivandrum City], Prof G. Anil Kumar [Professor, Kerala Law Academy] and Adv. Arya Sunil Paul [Faculty Co-ordinator, KLA Legal Aid].

In short,the event witnessed the successful participation and coordination of the students of KLA Legal Aid Clinic and Services.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

Established in 1966 Kerala Law Academy [KLA] is a seat of excellence in legal education, consultancy and research and in pioneering law reforms. The formal inauguration of KLA was done on 21 October 1967 by E M S Namboodiripad, the then Chief Minister of Kerala. The Academy’s prestigious institute, “the Kerala Law Academy Law College” is located in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. ‘KLA Legal Aid Clinic and KLA Legal Services Centre’ is actively working to impart legal awareness to poor and illiterate people and to make students socially relevant and professionally competent legal professionals. It also offers legal and paralegal services by the faculty and the students. KLA was the first organization in the state to take up legal aid on a massive scale. KLA’s acclaimed peer-reviewed/refereed research journal“Academy Law Review” is published continuously since 1977.
