NLSIU to launch 3 year LLB programme

NLSIU Banglore on its 29th convocation announced its plan to launch a three- year LLB programme by vice chancellor sudhir Krishnaswamy on 31st october 2021.

NLSIU was the first National Law university established in India to pioneer legal education reforms. The University has remained a leader in the field of legal education in india for over 30 years. NLSIU has been ranked No 1in the national Institutional Ranking framework in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Three decades after the initial success beyond expectations of the 5 year BA LLB programme which secure NLS legacy as an institution that incubated and radically disrupted the legal education announced a new interdiciplinary 3 year LLb which is embedded in experiential learning pedagogy. And the university has secured the necessary regulatory approval as well as permission from the governing bodies. The inaugural batch will begin in July 2022.

Prof.Krishnaswamy said during his inaugural address that ‘ it will help in re- energising and transforming the postgraduate legal education in india and for that they have assembled the best faculty team and thereby invite the brightest and the best graduates from any discipline to join as they have set their standards in radically transforming the legal education’.

The institute inorder to increase its student strenght from 660 to 2200 will seek 12 more acres of land from the governmnet inorder to construct class room, learning spaces and residential area. And as part of its inlusion and expansion plan of 2021-2025 it will bring reservation for OBC, EWS and women apart from Karnataka domicile quota.

They also aim to develop a research faculty cadre to recruit the scholars who are dedicated to path breaking research and to re- organise their research publications to achieve internationally peer- recognised scholarly output.

The university is in the final stages of securing the largest ever grant from Infosys to redevelop their library and surroundings and adpt a digital learning and inclusi initiative.

The chief guest former governor of West Bengal, Gopala krishna Gandhi enunciated the respect for the law and improvement in fairness, balance and cultivating trust.
