The Kerala State Legal Services Authority in association with Government Law College, Ernakulam, and LJRF Centre for Women & Children is conducting a panel discussion on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 in virtual mode, a topic which is of utmost importance in these changing scenarios.
Sexual harassment at workplace is a serious issue faced by women all over the world. The situation is no different in India. Despite the constitutional guarantees of our constitution and many other international laws, sexual harassment at the workplace is unfortunately prevalent in our nation.
The Vishaka case had been a milestone in bringing about comprehensive guidelines with respect to sexual harassment at the workplace. This was subsequently followed by the enactment of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 which lays down institutional frameworks and various grievance redressal mechanisms. But the stark reality remains that there have been little or no changes in the working environment for women. It is still a remaining fact that overwhelmingly large fractions of working women are ignorant of this as well. Moreover, the Act is not implemented successfully in our nation.
Therefore there is a need to discuss the lacuna of the POSH Act and also to create awareness among the people regarding the same. Here comes the objective and relevance of this Virtual Panel discussion conducted by Government Law College, Ernakulam in association with Kerala State Legal Services Authority and LJRF Centre for Women & Children. We hope fruitful outcomes can be gained by this venture.
The Session is to be conducted on 9th of October 2022 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. We request your good selves to participate in the panel discussion and make this event meaningful.
