‘The Constitution and Marginalized’ : A Seminar by Alleppey Social Justice Department

The Indian Constitution has always been alongside the marginalized and weaker section of the society. It has never let alone, any citizen of the Country. It has been open to amendments that can create an impact on the progress of the underprivileged and poorer sections of the Indian society.

Alleppey District Social Justice Office conducted a seminar on the topic ‘The Constitution and the Social Justice of the Marginalized Societies’. The event was inaugurated by Dr. P.P Chittaranjan MLA and presided over by Shrimati. Haritha V Kumar IAS, District Collector Alleppey. The Seminar was taken by Dr. G Mohan Gopal , Former Director National Judicial Academy. Kerala Social Justice Department is headed by Dr. Bindhu. the Department’s Alleppey district office conducts the same as part of the 100-day programme of 2nd anniversary of the second Pinarayi Vijayan’s ( honourable Chief Minister of Kerala from 2016- till date) government and also ‘Ente Keralam‘ programme.

Dr. G Mohan Gopal spoke of the major challenges and distractions that occur in the lives of the marginalized. He exhorted the Constitutional rights which can be availed legally to safeguard their interest. The most vulnerable marginalized groups in the Indian society being women, , people with disabilities, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, elderly or aged group, children etc.., a lot more have to be done to make their lives better and blissful.

As Mark Twain sings, “there are miles to go before I sleep”, India has to work smarter towards and egalitarian society that can provide a safe and secured life ahead for the marginalized.
