Poem Corner
‘Goodbye Ammy’ – Aneeta Nirmal Mamen
Truth to be told,
We all feared you.
Nothing, absolutely nothing
Could ever outplay you.
Yet, the fear could Hardly erase
The sweetness In the memories
Of Old days – When “Uniappam, achappam
And Jack Chips” made,
By those skillful hands
Was savoured with haste.
Your concern to wake up,
Before dawn could stream
Its rays through the doors,
To make each grandchild’s
Desired breakfast,
Was baked loved for us.
Headstrong, brave and perseverance,
You made with friends with success alright.
Your prayers are what gave us strength.
Forgive us, if we haven’t made
It our necessity yet.
Goodbye for now,
And rest awhile some more.
After I finish my time on earth,
I will meet you beyond the shore.
