About the Organizer:

The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, is a deemed-to-be University accredited with an A++ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). IFHE is one of India’s leading multidisciplinary universities, offering programmes in management, science and technology, law, and social sciences.

ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, a constituent of IFHE and recognized by the Bar Council of India, is committed to imparting quality legal education through an industry-oriented curriculum that combines legal theory with practical training. About the Competition:

The Moot Court Society of ICFAI Law School, IFHE, Hyderabad is organizing the 11th Shri N.J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2026, scheduled to be held from 4th to 6th September 2026 at the ICFAI Law School campus, Hyderabad.

Instituted in memory of Shri N.J. Yasaswy, the visionary founder of the ICFAI Group of Educational Institutions, the competition seeks to promote excellence in legal advocacy, research, drafting, and courtroom skills among law students. Over the years, the competition has emerged as a prestigious national moot court event, attracting participation from law schools across the country.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Compete before experienced academicians and legal professionals.
  • Participate in intellectually challenging rounds based on a contemporary moot proposition.
  • Compete for a prize pool of ₹2,00,000.
  • Receive complimentary access to Manupatra for memorial research after registration.

Eligibility:

The competition is open to students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programmes at institutions recognized by the Bar Council of India or any other competent authority.

Team Composition:

Each participating team shall consist of:

  • Two Speakers; and
  • One Researcher.

Each team may comprise a maximum of three members.

Registration Process:

Registration Fee:

  • Early Bird Registration: ₹2,850
  • Regular Registration: ₹3,450
  • Accommodation Charges: ₹5,000 (optional)

Registration Procedure:

  • Complete the registration through the official Registration Form.
  • Make the prescribed payment through the designated payment portal.
  • Upload the duly signed Liability Waiver Form along with the Registration Form.
  • Upon successful registration, teams shall receive confirmation from the Organising Committee.

Competition Format:

The competition shall consist of:

  • Two Preliminary Rounds
  • Quarter-Finals
  • Semi-Finals
  • Finals

Each team shall argue both sides during the Preliminary Rounds. The top eight teams based on aggregate scores shall advance to the Quarter-Finals, followed by knockout Semi-Finals and Finals.

Prizes:

The competition offers a total prize pool of ₹2,00,000, comprising:

  • Winner: ₹1,00,000, Trophy and Merit Certificate.
  • First Runner-Up: ₹50,000, Trophy and Merit Certificate.
  • Second Runner-Up: ₹20,000, Trophy and Merit Certificate.
  • Best Memorial: ₹10,000, Trophy and Merit Certificate.
  • Best Speaker: ₹10,000, Trophy and Merit Certificate.
  • Best Researcher: ₹10,000, Trophy and Merit Certificate.

Additionally:

  • All participants shall receive Certificates of Participation or Merit.
  • Registered participants shall receive complimentary access to Manupatra for memorial research.
