Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram conducted its 10th National ADR Competition for `KELSA Trophy on 14th and 20th November 2024. The preliminary session as well as the inaugurals was held online on November 14 and the semi finals and finals was held offline at the Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram Campus.

Govt. Law college Thiruvananthapuram, is one of the oldest legal institution in Kerala founded on 31st January 1875 under the visionary patronage of the Maharaja of Travancore. The institution is renowned for hosting various prestigious International and National Competitions including Moot Competitions, Trial Advocacy, ADR, etc.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Competitions are events that provide a platform for students to improve their skills in ADR mechanisms like mediation, conciliation. The event also marked the significance of ADR mechanisms in building a society grounded in fairness, mutual understanding, and sustainable progress.
Event Details
The stage was set for the prestigious competition by an online inaugural session on November 14 with the inaugural speech by Hon’ble Justice A Muhammed Mustaque, marking the beginning of an exciting journey. The keynote address was delivered by Shri. S. Shamnad , Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Thiruvananthapuram. 16 teams from all over India participated in the prelims held on that day. The semi and finals were held offline inside the Government Law College, Trivandrum Campus on November 20, where the selected teams put up a strong fight.
Winners
The team comprising Merrya Ginto, Jeevan T George and Akhila S Nair from School of Law ,CHRIST (Deemed to be University) bagged this year’s KELSA Ever rolling trophy, while the team from Manikchand Pahade Law College, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra comprising Siddhi Avinash Nagarkar, Vedika Vyankatesh Kamalu and Pritha Biswas emerged as runners up.
The intense legal battles and strategic negotiations that took place over the span of two days culminated with a Valedictory session, with Rtd District Judge Smt. Padmini M G, who is a Supreme Court Accredited Mediator and the Chairperson of Mental Health Review Board delivering the Valedictory Address and Adv.Bhuvanendran Nair V and Adv. Dr. Sandhya K Nair, delivering the Special Address. The competition was a major success filled with excitement and enthusiasm of participants from 16 colleges across India.
