The Quiz, Debating and Literary Committee (QDelico) of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur (MNLU Nagpur) has officially announced the Third Edition of the Orange Capital Debate (OCD 3.0), one of India’s prominent British Parliamentary (BP) debate tournaments. Scheduled to be held from 31 July to 2 August 2026, the event aims to bring together debaters, adjudicators, and public speaking enthusiasts from law schools and universities across the country for an intellectually stimulating and highly competitive debating experience.
Over the years, the Orange Capital Debate has established itself as a platform that promotes critical thinking, persuasive advocacy, and informed dialogue. The third edition seeks to build upon the success of its previous iterations by offering participants an opportunity to engage in high-quality parliamentary debates, interact with experienced adjudicators, and exchange ideas with students from diverse academic backgrounds. According to the organisers, this year’s edition promises to be “bigger, bolder, and more impactful,” fostering meaningful discussions on contemporary issues while strengthening the culture of competitive debating in India.

About Orange Capital Debate 3.0:
The Orange Capital Debate is organised in the British Parliamentary (BP) format, the debating format used at the World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC). Participants compete in teams of two, representing Government and Opposition benches across Opening and Closing halves, requiring speakers to demonstrate legal reasoning, analytical ability, strategic thinking, and persuasive communication.
The organisers envision OCD 3.0 as more than just a competition. The tournament is designed to serve as a platform where participants challenge ideas, develop advocacy skills, engage with contemporary issues, and cultivate meaningful academic and professional networks. By bringing together experienced debaters and newcomers alike, the event aims to create an inclusive environment that values intellectual diversity and constructive discourse.
Tournament Details:
The tournament will be conducted in an offline format at the MNLU Nagpur campus with the following details:

- Format: British Parliamentary Debate
- Mode: Offline (On-Campus)
- Break Categories: Open Break and Novice Break
- Adjudication Policy: N = N + 1, ensuring adequate adjudicator representation for participating institutions.
Prize Pool:
Participants will compete for a total prize pool of ₹1.75 Lakhs, making OCD 3.0 one of the well-rewarded parliamentary debating tournaments in the country. Awards will be presented under the following categories:
- Tournament Winners
- Tournament Runners-Up
- Novice Winners
- Best Speaker
- Best Adjudicator
The prize structure reflects the organisers’ commitment to recognising excellence in debating, adjudication, and individual performance.
Registration Details:
Registrations are open for eligible participants. The registration fee has been structured as follows:
- ₹2,500 per participant (including accommodation)
- ₹2,000 per participant (excluding accommodation)
The event will be conducted entirely offline, providing participants with opportunities to interact, network, and engage in the vibrant debating culture fostered by MNLU Nagpur.
