ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, established in 2010 under Act No. 4 of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, is one of India’s premier National Law Universities dedicated to excellence in legal education, research, and innovation. Located in Ranchi, the University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in law, including B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. With an emphasis on interdisciplinary legal studies, NUSRL strives to produce competent, ethical, and socially responsible legal professionals capable of addressing contemporary legal and societal challenges.

The Centre for Policies, Laws and Agenda (CPLAN), established in 2023 at NUSRL, Ranchi, is a dedicated research centre working at the intersection of law, policy, and governance. The Centre seeks to promote research in Constitutional Law, Legislative Drafting, and Policy Research through interdisciplinary studies, innovative policy solutions, and meaningful academic dialogue.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION:

The Policy Chronicle, the flagship blog of the Centre for Policies, Laws and Agenda (CPLAN), NUSRL Ranchi, invites submissions for its Call for Blogs (July–September 2026 Edition). The blog serves as a platform for critical discussion on issues concerning law, governance, and public policy. It encourages well-researched, analytical, and solution-oriented contributions that engage with contemporary legal and policy developments while remaining accessible to both legal professionals and general readers.

THEMES:

Submissions are invited on themes including:

  • Climate Change and Sustainable Governance
  • Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection and Digital Rights
  • Gender Justice and Inclusive Society
  • Democracy, Constitution and Electoral Reforms
  • Human Rights and Justice
  • Environmental Law and Climate Justice
  • Labour Rights and the Future of Work
  • Public Health, Mental Health and Healthcare Policy
  • Education, Technology and Equal Access
  • Indigenous Communities, Land Rights and Tribal Governance
  • Economic Development, Poverty and Social Equity
  • Media, Free Speech and Digital Regulation
  • Globalisation, International Relations and Humanitarian Concerns
  • Law, Technology and Emerging Policy Challenges
  • Intellectual Property Rights and Related Policies

The above themes are illustrative, and authors are encouraged to explore interdisciplinary and emerging policy issues beyond the listed topics.

ELIGIBILITY:

Submissions are open to:

  • Law students
  • Academicians
  • Researchers
  • Legal professionals

Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  • Manuscripts must be written in English.
  • Submissions must be original and unpublished.
  • Blogs should present novel, analytical, and well-researched arguments with practical recommendations.
  • A brief author bio (maximum 100 words) must be submitted separately and should not reveal the author’s identity within the manuscript.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  • The file should be named “Title_CPLAN_TPC Blog”.
  • The prescribed word limit is 1,200–2,000 words, subject to relaxation by the Editorial Board.
  • Authors may include original or copyright-free images, infographics, and flowcharts.
  • Simultaneous submissions are not permitted, and blogs under consideration elsewhere will not be accepted.
  • Cross-publication is prohibited.

FORMATTING GUIDELINES:

Referencing
  • References should be hyperlinked within the text.
  • Where hyperlinks are unavailable, endnotes may be used.
  • Endnotes must conform to the Bluebook (21st Edition).
Formatting
  • Font: Garamond
  • Font Size: 12 (main text), 10 (endnotes)
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 (main text), 1.0 (endnotes)
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Statutes, case laws, and legal documents should be italicised.
  • Titles and headings must follow the prescribed formatting style.

ETHICAL GUIDELINES:

  • All submissions will be screened using Turnitin for plagiarism and AI-generated content.
  • Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.
  • Similarity must not exceed 10% in accordance with the UGC Regulations, 2018.
  • AI-assisted writing is permitted only up to 20% of the manuscript.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

  • All manuscripts must be submitted through Google Forms.
  • Email submissions or submissions through any other mode will not be accepted.
  • The blog accepts submissions on a rolling basis.
  • The last date for submissions under the present Call for Blogs is 30 September 2026 (11:59 PM).

WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURE:

Authors may withdraw their submissions by sending a withdrawal request to cplan@nusrlranchi.ac.in within one week of submission. Requests made after one week must include valid reasons and are subject to the discretion of the Editorial Board. No withdrawal requests shall be entertained after acceptance of the manuscript.

EDITORIAL AND REVIEW PROCESS:

The editorial process consists of the following stages:

  • Acknowledgement of Submission
  • Preliminary Review (Plagiarism and AI Screening)
  • Blind Review – Stage I
  • Blind Review – Stage II
  • Communication of Editorial Decision
  • Revision Review (where applicable)
  • Formatting and Pre-Publication
  • Final Publication and Author Communication

The Editorial Board follows a structured review process to ensure originality, analytical quality, scholarly merit, and compliance with publication standards before publication.

PUBLICATION POLICY:

  • Simultaneous submissions are not permitted during the review process.
  • Time-sensitive submissions may request expedited review at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
  • Upon acceptance, copyright in the manuscript shall vest with The Policy Chronicle, while authors retain their moral rights.
  • The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit, proofread, and format accepted manuscripts.
  • The Editorial Board’s decision regarding publication shall be final.
