ABOUT THE ORGANIZER
Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, is a premier private Deemed-to-be University established in 1988 and granted university status in 2003. The Faculty of Law is a Bar Council of India-approved institution that emphasizes experiential legal education through moot courts, legal drafting, internships, research, and advocacy. Strategically located in Chennai with close proximity to the Madras High Court, the Faculty is equipped with modern classrooms, a dedicated legal library, legal aid clinic, and mock trial facilities, enabling students to bridge the gap between legal theory and practice.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The Dr. A.C.S. 1st National Moot Court Competition, 2026, organised by the Moot Court Society, Faculty of Law, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, is a prestigious national-level moot court competition designed to promote excellence in legal research, advocacy, and constitutional discourse among aspiring legal professionals. The competition focuses on contemporary constitutional and medico-legal issues, providing participants with an opportunity to strengthen their legal research, memorial drafting, and oral advocacy skills while engaging with complex questions of constitutional law.
The moot proposition revolves around the theme “Right to Die with Dignity: Constitutional Autonomy, Medical Ethics and the Limits of State Intervention”, raising significant issues relating to Article 21, human dignity, medical ethics, judicial review, public policy, and the constitutional obligations of the State.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Develop legal research, memorial drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
- Engage with contemporary constitutional and medico-legal issues.
- Gain practical courtroom experience through multiple competitive rounds.
- Interact with legal academicians and experienced judges.
- Compete for prestigious awards and national recognition.
ELIGIBILITY
- Open to bona fide students enrolled in either the Three-Year LL.B. Programme or the Five-Year Integrated Law Programme from institutions recognised by the appropriate statutory authority.
- A maximum of three teams may participate from each institution.
- Participants must be duly enrolled during the academic year in which the competition is conducted.

- 15 August 2026: Last Date for Registration
- 20 August 2026: Last Date for Seeking Clarifications
- 24 August 2026: Release of Clarifications
- 5 September 2026: Last Date for Soft Copy Memorial Submission
- 7 September 2026: Last Date for Hard Copy Memorial Submission and Submission of Registration & Declaration Forms
- 17 September 2026: Inaugural Ceremony, Researcher’s Test, Draw of Lots & Exchange of Memorials
- 18 September 2026: Preliminary Rounds I & II and Quarter-Final Round
- 19 September 2026: Semi-Final Round
- 19 September 2026: Final Round, Valedictory Ceremony & Prize Distribution
PRIZES

TEAM COMPOSITION
Each participating team shall consist of three members:
- Two Speakers
- One Researcher
A maximum of three teams may participate from each institution. Each team will be allotted a unique Team Code, and disclosure of the institution’s identity during the competition will result in disqualification.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
- Registration Fee: ₹4,000 per team.
- Teams must complete the Google Registration Form before the prescribed deadline.
- Upload the scanned Registration Form and proof of payment while submitting the online form.
- Courier the duly filled Registration Form and Declaration Form to the University on or before 7 September 2026.
- No refund of the registration fee shall be permitted.
- No spot registrations will be entertained.
