The Kerala Law Academy Legal Aid Clinic and Services in association with District Legal Services Authority, Thiruvananthapuram, KLA NSS, LJRF and IQAC KLA is organizing the ‘LAWOJ 2022’ from 20th -26th October 2022. As part of the second day of the coveted celebrations, KLA Legal Aid Clinic conducted an intercollegiate debate competition at V R Krishna Iyer Hall.
The competition saw the presence of a total of 22 teams from across the state from various colleges. The debate which was conducted in three different stages was on the general topic – “Is Brain Drain in Vogue?”. The topic for the finals was “Is Demographic Dividend the Wealth of India’s Future?”. Smt. Shana Nazreen, Educator, Kerala Civil Service Academy and Adv. Kokila Babu were the Judges of this competition. Abhimanyu & Sreekuttan of Karyavattom university faced off Rahul Ishwar & Deepa Noble from Kerala Law Academy Law College in the Finals. Winners of the competition will be declared on the 26th day of October 2022 at the valedictory Session of the one week celebrations.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
Established in 1966 Kerala Law Academy [KLA] is a seat of excellence in legal education, consultancy and research and in pioneering law reforms. The formal inauguration of KLA was done on 21 October 1967 by E M S Namboodiripad, the then Chief Minister of Kerala. The Academy’s prestigious institute, “the Kerala Law Academy Law College” is located in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. ‘KLA Legal Aid Clinic and KLA Legal Services Centre’ is actively working to impart legal awareness to poor and illiterate people and to make students socially relevant and professionally competent legal professionals. It also offers legal and paralegal services by the faculty and the students. KLA was the first organization in the state to take up legal aid on a massive scale. KLA’s acclaimed peer-reviewed/refereed research journal“Academy Law Review” is published continuously since 1977.
