CGC University Mohali Announces 4th Nationwide Moot Court Competition 2026

The School of Legal Studies, CGC University, Mohali, through its Moot Court Society, has announced the 4th Nationwide Moot Court Competition, 2026.

The competition is scheduled to be held from October 22 to 24, 2026, at the School of Legal Studies, CGC University, Mohali. It aims to provide law students from across India with an opportunity to develop their skills in legal research, written submissions, oral advocacy, analytical reasoning and courtroom presentation.

About CGC University, Mohali:

CGC University, Mohali was founded in 2025 under the Chandigarh Educational Society and builds upon a 25+ year educational legacy.

The University states that it holds NAAC A+ accreditation, along with NIRF, NBA and QS I-GAUGE recognitions. It describes its academic ecosystem as combining technology-enabled learning, industry-focused education and holistic student development.

About the School of Legal Studies:

The School of Legal Studies, CGC University, Mohali offers a three-year LL.B. programme as well as five-year integrated law programmes.

The School places emphasis on substantive and procedural law, experiential learning, research and advocacy skills. Its facilities include a library, digital learning resources and a dedicated moot court.

About the Competition:

The 4th Nationwide Moot Court Competition, 2026 has been organised to bring together law students from across the country and provide them with a platform to sharpen their:

The organisers describe the competition as an opportunity for students to engage with hypothetical legal disputes and develop practical advocacy skills in a simulated courtroom environment.

Eligibility:

The competition is open to students enrolled bona fide on a regular basis in an undergraduate law course or its equivalent conducted by an institution recognised by the Bar Council of India.

Team Composition:

Teams may comprise two or three participants.

Three-member team

Two participants shall act as Speakers/Oralists
One participant shall act as the Researcher

Two-member team

Both participants shall act as Speakers
One participant shall additionally undertake the role of Researcher

Following verification of registration, each team will be allotted a team code in the format “TC-XX” for identification throughout the competition.

₹4,500 per team

The fee is exclusive of accommodation.

Certificates of participation will also be provided to teams participating in the preliminary rounds.

Moot Proposition and Rulebook:

The competition brochure provides a dedicated QR code through which participants can access the Competition Rulebook and Moot Proposition. The relevant QR code appears on page 9 of the brochure.

Explore Chandigarh:

The organisers have also planned a social component for participating teams.

Participants are encouraged to explore Chandigarh, including destinations such as the Capitol Complex and Sukhna Lake, along with the city’s cafés, markets and planned streets.

The brochure states that participants must make their own arrangements for exploring the city, although the Organising Committee may be approached for local recommendations and arrangements.

Social Evening:

The competition will also feature an exclusive DJ Social Evening, including live music, student performances and entertainment.

The event will provide participants with an opportunity to interact with fellow mooters, organisers and members of the legal fraternity outside the courtroom.
