The DPIIT-IPR Chair at the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA), in collaboration with The LawCademy, has announced the 1st International Article Writing Competition, inviting students, academicians, researchers, legal professionals, policymakers, and international participants to contribute to contemporary scholarship in Intellectual Property Law. The competition aims to foster interdisciplinary research and encourage critical engagement with emerging issues at the intersection of law, technology, economics, and public policy.
About the Organisers:
The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA), established under the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009, is one of India’s premier law schools, committed to advancing legal education and research. The University’s DPIIT-IPR Chair, established in 2018 under the Scheme for Pedagogy and Research in IPRs for Holistic Education and Academia (SPRIHA) of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, works towards strengthening intellectual property awareness, research, and innovation, particularly in the North-Eastern region.
The competition is being organised in collaboration with The LawCademy, a legal education and mentorship platform dedicated to bridging the gap between legal education and professional practice through industry-focused learning initiatives and mentorship opportunities.
About the Competition:
The inaugural International Article Writing Competition seeks to promote high-quality legal research on evolving issues in intellectual property law. Adopting a global and interdisciplinary perspective, the competition encourages participants to undertake comparative analysis and policy-oriented scholarship while contributing to contemporary discourse on intellectual property rights. Selected papers will also strengthen the academic engagement of the DPIIT-IPR Chair through publication opportunities.

Participants may write on any topic falling within the broader theme. Illustrative sub-themes include:

Eligibility:
The competition is open to:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students from Law, Technology, Economics, Social Sciences, and allied disciplines
- Research Scholars

- Legal Professionals and Industry Experts
- Policymakers and Regulatory Authorities
- International participants interested in Intellectual Property Law
Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.
Submission Guidelines:
Participants are required to submit original and unpublished manuscripts between 1,500 and 2,500 words. The organisers have prescribed a maximum plagiarism threshold of 10%, in accordance with UGC norms. Excessive AI-generated content beyond the stipulated limit may result in disqualification, and submissions under consideration elsewhere are not permitted.
