The Backward Classes Development Department of the Government of Kerala has invited online applications for the Advocates Financial Assistance Scheme for 2026–27. The initiative aims to ensure adequate representation of backward classes in the legal field by offering financial aid. Eligible selected candidates will receive ₹12,000 per year for up to three years, which will be transferred directly into their active bank accounts. The maximum number of beneficiaries selected per year is limited to 100 (including second and third installment recipients), with priority given to applicants with lower annual incomes under existing government rules.
To qualify, applicants must be law graduates belonging to an Other Backward Class (OBC) in Kerala and must be residents of the state. The annual family income must not exceed ₹1,00,000, and applicants must provide the income certificate number and security code issued via e-District within the last year. Applicants must have enrolled with the Kerala Bar Council between July 1, 2024, and July 31, 2026, and must actively practice within Kerala. Those selected must execute an agreement with the department on a ₹200 stamp paper.

Applicants must upload their Caste Certificate, Enrollment Certificate, Senior Advocate Certificate, educational certificates from Higher Secondary onwards, bank passbook, and identity proof. The bank account provided must be active and strictly in the applicant’s own name, as accounts of parents or others will lead to disqualification.
Applicants should not send hard copies of the application or supporting documents to the department. Previous beneficiaries applying for second or third installments must submit a manual renewal application with a Utilization Certificate, original expense receipts, a practice certificate from a senior advocate, and a bank passbook copy.
