Jeevitha Naipunya – Legal awareness program by District Probation Office Alappuzha & LJRF

LJRF Centre For Probation Reforms in association with District Probation Office Alappuzha organised a legal awareness program in the prisons of Alappuzha on 2nd and 3rd of March 2022.

This programme was inaugurated by Dr. Mohit C.S, Additional District Sections Judge I and TLSC Chairman, Mavelikara on March 2. Sri. Shajahan S, District Probation Officer Alappuzha delivered presidential address. In this function Sri. Prevish T.J suprent of special sub jail, Mavelikara delivered the welcome speech. Felicitation was delivered by Sir. Liju Thomas, project coordinator and Sri. Suresh Kumar, secretary of TLSC and Vote of thanks was given by Sri. Santhosh.G Additional District Probation Officer Alappuzha.

On 2nd March 2022, Adv. Rose Mariam Siby ( Member LJRF State Chapter) delivered a lecture regarding an important topic – “Services And Schemes Of Social Justice Department For Convicts , Ex- Convicts and Probationers , Victims and their Families” and Ms. Amina S.M( Member, LJRF Centre For Probation Reforms) presented on the topic “Probation Of Offenders Act 1958 And Its Benefits”.

On 3rd March 2022, Ms. Arya . V. Nair( Editor, LJRF Voice) talked about the “Right Of Prisoners” and Ms. Aksha Raj B ( Member, LJRF Centre For Probation Reforms) delivered a presentation concerning “Plea Bargaining And Parole”.

This legal awareness program which aimed to ensure that education in prisons promotes self-reliance and autonomy among the imprisoned population was successfully concluded.

The contribution from the part of Ljrf members in this programme helped to enlighten the prison population as concerned to the end objective of the programme i.e enabling them to reintegrate into society harmoniously.
