ABOUT THE EVENT

Fifth Edition of Dr. B R Ambedkar Memorial Lecture Series and International Human Rights Day celebration organised by Law And Justice Research Foundation (LJRF) on December 10th at 5pm .This initiation of Law And Justice Research Foundation (LJRF) aims to promote equality, peace, justice, freedom and the protection of human dignity.Moreover,the lecture would like to delve in interesting observations,analysis and facets of ‘Media’.The eminent Speakers for the event are Prof. Dr. V.C Vivekananda, Vice Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur and adv. Nagaraj Narayanan, Senior Advocate of the High Court of Kerala and Director of Kerala Law Academy.

International Human Rights Day

International Human Rights Day commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. ‘Human rights’ refer to basic rights or freedoms that include people’s right to live, health, education, freedom of speech and thoughts, and equal rights. 

This day is observed to promote equality, peace, justice, freedom and the protection of human dignity. Every individual is entitled to rights irrespective of race,colour, religion, sex, language,f or social status. International Human Rights Day celebration organized by Law and Justice Research Foundation (LJRF) focuses on the following objectives:

*Promote awareness about human rights among the people

*Emphasize the endeavors of the United Nations General Assembly in order to progress the overall human rights conditions.

*Get together and celebrate in co-operation to discuss and highlight the specific issues of the human rights.

*Encourage the vulnerable group of people like women, minorities, youth, poor, disabled person, indigenous people etc. to take part in this event and political decision-making.

The rise of the phenomenon called ‘Media’ and its role has been a key to the discourse on Democratic governance in open societies for the last couple of centuries. The phenomenon has also gone through a rapid transition in the era of rapid technological transformation often dubbed as ‘ New Media’ . The relationship of such ‘Media’ with Government in power has also changed drastically in the last few decades where the traditional identity of ‘Fourth Pillar’ has come under severe scrutiny . This Lecture would like to delve in interesting observations/ analysis and facets of ‘Media’.
