26th November 1949 was the day, the world celebrated the birth of a new democracy named India. It was the day India saw its constitution come into being. It is commemorated as ‘Constitution Day‘ thereafter throughout the country as a reminder of the constitution being the watchdog of the Indian Democracy that we can look up to as citizens to safeguard our rights.
The LJRF Centre for Constitutional Literacy has always been at the forefront, ensuring to disseminate constitutional literacy among the common public in the most accessible ways possible. This also encourages our student community to look beyond their bare acts, textbooks, etc. and enrich themselves with invaluable insights and expand their horizons as they embark towards their future careers in the legal landscape.
Commemorating this special occasion, on November 26th, 2023, the Centre, in association with District Legal Services Authority, Ernakulam, is hosting a Webinar on ‘CONSTITUTIONAL LAW: CHALLENGES AND REMEDIES‘ from 5 pm onwards. It shall be an enlightening 2-hours Webinar.
The Webinar shall commence with a warm welcome by Shri Renjith Krishnan N, Sub Judge and Secretary, DLSA, Ernakulam. Shri Joshi John, District Judge and Member Secretary, KELSA (Kerala Legal Service Authority), with his esteemed presence shall inaugurate the session and impart his wisdom. The Presidential Address will be delivered by Smt. Honey M. Varghese, District Judge & Chairperson, DLSA, Ernakulam.
The Webinar shall comprise of 3 sessions, 20 minutes each.
Dr. Sindhu Thulaseedharan, Professor and Head, Department of Law, University of Kerala, Karyavattom will share her insights and perspective on “Constitution and Gender Equality – Challenges and Trends.”
Dr. Lawwellman P, Assistant Professor, Government Law College, Kozhikode will enlighten the audience on “Challenges to the ‘Constitutional Socialism’ in the Liberalism Era.”
Dr. P. S. Seema, Associate Professor, School of Legal Studies, CUSAT, Kochi will elaborate on “Secularism ln the Constitution of India: Challenges in implementation and the way out.”
Lastly, the Vote of Thanks will be delivered by Adv Parvathy R. S., Convenor, LJRF Centre for Constitutional Literacy.
