About the Organization:
The Ministry of Women and Child Development, a branch of the Government of India, is an apex body for formulation and administration of the rules and regulations and laws relating to women and child development in India. The current Minister for the Ministry of Women and Child Development is Annpurna Devi having held the portfolio since 2024. The Ministry of Women and Child Development focuses on the holistic advancement of women and children. It formulates policies, enacts legislation, and coordinates efforts of government and NGOs in this field. In addition to its core responsibilities, the Ministry implements innovative programs aimed at welfare, support services, employment training, income generation, awareness, and gender sensitization.
About the Internship Programme:
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) invites nominations for women students/scholars/ social activists/ teachers who are enrolled in/ affiliated with any university/academic/ non-academic institution. This programme aims to familiarize women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers (referred to as ‘interns’) with the Ministry’s policies and programmes through short-term engagement. Interns may be tasked with conducting pilot projects or micro-studies related to the Ministry’s ongoing activities. Through this initiative, the Ministry aims to provide interns with valuable exposure to its mandate, programmes, and policy analysis, equipping them to actively address women’s and children’s issues on various platforms in the future.
Eligibility:
Candidates aged 21-40 can submit their applications via the Internship Portal between the 1st and 10th of each month. Applicants can select the batch they wish to apply for, with applications accepted up to six months in advance.
Duration:
The Internship Programme will be available for the duration of two months throughout the year. Interns can select any of the two month batches while submitting their applications.
Selection:
Interns will be selected based on the recommendations of a duly constituted Selection committee. The list of selected candidates will be available under the ‘Downloads’section on the Internship Portal. Once selected, a candidate is not eligible to reapply forthe Internship Programme.
Number of Interns:
The Ministry would take up to 20 interns per batch.
Stipend Amount:
Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/- along with reimbursement of travel expenses (by deluxe/AC bus or 3- tier AC train) for their journey to and from the Ministry at the start and conclusion of the programme. Interns who require accommodation will be provided with shared hostel facilities during the programme in Delhi. The hostel offers basic amenities, including triple-sharing rooms with attached bathrooms (mattress not included), as well as a table, chair, and cupboard.
