Not every internship is about sitting behind a desk drafting memos. At Global Network for Equality (GNE) India, students get a front-row seat to what justice actually looks like on the ground from prison visits to victimology work to RTI filings the kind of exposure that rarely makes it into a classroom syllabus.
GNE India is a Tirunelveli-based non-profit working to reduce reoffending and support restorative justice in India, with a particular focus on children of incarcerated parents, providing them care, education, and support to overcome social stigma. GNE India has invited applications from students pursuing Law, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, and related disciplines for its ongoing internship programme, aimed at giving students meaningful, field-based learning experience.
AREAS OF EXPOSURE
The internship offers hands-on involvement across a wide range of areas, including:
- Case handling and legal documentation
- Victimology and Restorative Justice
- Court visits and judicial processes
- FIR analysis and case status verification
- Legal research and judgment analysis
- Translation and proofreading of legal case documents
- Filing RTI applications and understanding transparency laws
- Prison visits, correctional administration, and legal aid
- Child rights, human rights, and social justice initiatives
The programme is structured to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, helping interns build professional skills alongside ethical values, critical thinking, empathy, and confidence.
IN THE INTERNS’ WORDS
A cohort that completed the programme between June and July 2026 reflected on the experience:
“This internship changed the way we see the law. We learned that justice is not only about courts and statutes it is about people, truth, compassion, and responsibility. Every case file, court visit, prison visit, and discussion taught us something that no classroom could. We leave with greater confidence, stronger values, and a deeper commitment to serve society.”

PRIORITY FOR FIRST-GENERATION GRADUATES
GNE India places particular emphasis on supporting first-generation graduates, working on the belief that access to meaningful learning opportunities can transform not just individual careers, but families and communities.
