JOIN THE INDIAN ARMY AS A JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL (JAG) OFFICER

The Indian Army invites applications from unmarried male and female Law Graduates for the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme – 125th Course, commencing in April 2027. This is a Short Service Commission (Non-Technical) entry for candidates who wish to serve as legal officers in the Indian Army.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Nationality

Candidates must be Indian citizens or satisfy the nationality conditions specified in the official notification.

Age Limit

  • 21 to 27 years as on 01 January 2027.
  • Candidates should be born between 02 January 2000 and 01 January 2006 (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification

  • Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB (3-year or 5-year course).
  • Candidates must have appeared in CLAT PG 2026 (conducted in December 2025).
  • Candidates must be eligible for registration with the Bar Council of India/State Bar Council.
  • The law degree must be from a college/university recognized by the Bar Council of India.

TRAINING & STIPEND

  • Training at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai
  • Duration: 49 Weeks
  • Stipend during training: ₹56,100 per month

RANK & SALARY

  • Rank on Commission: Lieutenant
  • Pay Level: Level 10
  • Basic Pay: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 per month
  • Military Service Pay (MSP) and other applicable allowances are admissible.
  • Approximate Annual CTC: ₹17–18 Lakhs.

SERVICE TENURE

  • Short Service Commission up to 14 years.
  • Opportunity to be considered for Permanent Commission after completion of the prescribed service, subject to eligibility and prevailing policy.
